Results of IX International Investment Forum Sochi-2010

The ninth International Investment Forum took place in Sochi from September 16-19, 2010. Vladimir Putin, Chairman of RF Government, who spoke at the plenary session “Investment Climate: Goals, Expectations and Results”, 8 federal ministers, President of the Republic of Abkhazia S.V. Bagapsh and President of the Republic of Southern Ossetia E.D. Kokoity, 13 heads of diplomatic missions of foreign states took part in the Forum work.

Representatives of 32 countries participated in the Forum: Abkhazia, Armenia, Austria, Belarus, Great Britain, Germany, Denmark, Iceland, Italy, China, Canada, Nigeria, Poland, Slovakia, the USA, Turkey, Ukraine, France, Japan, etc., including 6 government delegations (Abkhazia, Armenia, Turkey, Montenegro, Czechia, Southern Ossetia), as well as business missions of Germany, Iceland, Italy and France.

Delegations from 53 subjects of the Russian Federation have participated in the Forum work, 32 of them have been leaded by the Heads of territorial administrations. 25 RF regions have presented their investment proposals for Russian and foreign business.

In total 8,000 participants including 569 foreign ones have been registered at the Forum.

Plenary session Investment Climate: “Goals, Expectations and Results” has become the main event of the Forum.

Conference “Regions in Their Competition for Investors”, an extended meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission for preparation and conducting of XXII Winter Olympics and XI Winter Paralympics in 2014 in the city of Sochi as well as 40 round tables with more than one thousand and five hundred participants took place, as well as 2 business breakfasts with participation of representatives of major Russian and foreign business. Presentations of 9 RF subjects has been arranged.

Total area of the Forum congress and exhibition pavilions was 16,300 sq. meters, total area of displays at the exhibitions accounted for 11,200 sq. meters. 170 Russian and foreign exhibitors in total represented their stands at the Forum.

376 agreements for total amount of RUR 768 billion were signed within the framework of the Forum business program.

88 agreements amounting to RUR 240 billion (without Krasnodar Region) have been signed by officials of 26 regions, including 20 agreements concluded by SFD regions for total amount of RUR 17.8 billion (Republic of Adygea – RUR 14.8 billion, Rostov Region – RUR 3 billion).

Krasnodar Region officials concluded 257 agreements for total amount of some RUR 382 billion at the Sochi Forum, which is almost by RUR 40 billion more, than at the Forum Sochi-2009.

In presence Vladimir Putin, Chairman of the Government 4 major government treaties as well as 1 agreement between the Government of RF and the government of Republic of Abkhazia on the checkpoints at the Russian-Abkhazian border were signed.

The Administration of Krasnodar Region during the work of IX International Investment Forum Sochi-2010 conducted a number of important bilateral meetings, in particular, the working meeting was held with the delegation from Tatarstan, headed by Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic. The meeting with Oleg Bogomolov, Kurgan Region Governor, at which the parties signed an agreement on commercial and economic, scientific-technical, social and cultural cooperation was also held.

The program of cultural and sports events has become a traditional supplement of the Forum business program.

The concert by Tom Johns was given for the Forum participants, guests and residents of Sochi, as well as concerts by famous Russian groups (B-2, Chaif and others).

The sports program of the Forum included the Silk Road international marathon-race, Sochi 2010 business-regatta, the tennis tournament for the prize of Krasnodar Region Governor, open regional competitions on sailing. The chess lounge opened its doors for the guests of the Forum from September 17 to 18.

Kuban Cuisine and Kuban Wines Festivals were organized for participants and guests of the Forum.
